As\u00a0the weather becomes colder and wetter and most plants in the garden will begin to lose their leaves and gradually become dormant; at this stage you can begin pruning.<\/p>\n<p>Pruning is carried out for a number of reasons: to manage the size of trees and shrubs, to remove old or diseased branches and to encourage better growth and flowering next year.
